Mrs. Pamela Nelson
Dallas, Texas

Dear Pamela,

Congratulations for your winning work in The Catholic Foundation Plaza annual artist competition. Your piece titled “Magic Carpet” is a wonderful addition to The Catholic Foundation Plaza.  Visitors to the Dallas Arts District will surely be drawn into the Plaza -- located directly behind the Cathedral of the Virgin of Guadalupe and across from the Meyerson Symphony Center -- to view your art. It is a unique and fascinating depiction of the streets of downtown Dallas that will stimulate a viewer’s imagination and transport them onto the streets you paved in gold.

We had a large audience and a beautiful Autumn day for the unveiling of the art. Vice-chairman Rob Hartmann’s remarks on the purpose and origin of the Plaza emphasized the importance The Catholic Foundation places on being a part of the Cathedral and the Dallas Arts District. We are happy your art is now a part of it as well. We continue to be appreciative that the Diocese allowed us to redevelop the space into a Plaza which is open for all to visit.

It was hard not to share in the enthusiasm of Bill Lively, the President and CEO of The Dallas Center for The Performing Arts, when he began his comments with “Isn’t it great to be in Dallas!”. He was very gracious in his praise of the Plaza. Finally, the blessing and benediction given by Father Eduardo Gonzalez and the ringing of the Cathedral bells were a perfect ending to the festivities.

Pamela, we are honored to have your “Magic Carpet” a part of The Catholic Foundation Plaza. Congratulations!

Sincerely,

Edwin M. Schaffler
President and Chief Executive Officer
