Rev. Rodolfo Garcia
Vocation Director
Diocese of Dallas
Dear Father Rudy,
Congratulations on being the “Best Seller” in the live auction at the Holy Trinity Seminary Welcome Back Seminarian Dinner once again. Last year, the Mexican dinner at your parents’ restaurant was the best seller and the trip for four to Rome was the big item this year. Father Tony Lackland tried hard to beat your top bid with his Mavericks package, but he will have to “wait till next year.”
The dinner was a fun-filled evening highlighted by the many priests who brought their good humor and personal touch in encouraging the audience to support Holy Trinity Seminary with high bids.
On a more serious note, you and Father Lackland deserve congratulations for your success in helping young men who are thinking of the priesthood. There is no doubt we need more priests in the Diocese. The 11 men who have begun their studies for the priesthood this year says a lot for the work you and Father Tony are doing. I am confident you will meet Bishop Farrell’s challenge of obtaining 20 new seminarians.
The keynote address given by Bishop Michael Duca was a powerful message. The story of his personal journey to the priesthood and his challenge to us was inspiring.
The Catholic Foundation is the home for several endowments supporting the seminary and after such an inspiring evening we are glad we are helping build the future of our church.Sincerely,
Edwin M. Schaffler
