Ms. Kathie Gautille
Coppell, Texas
Dear Kathie,
It was a pleasure for The Catholic Foundation to support the collaboration between St. Ann’s Parish and Christian Community Action for the “Kids Eat Free” program being administered in the parish this summer. It is nice to see two organizations come together to provide a much needed service to their communities and it is a wonderful example of partnering to provide good works that may not have otherwise been available.
The Catholic Foundation is appreciative of opportunities like this because we believe that charity is a community-wide responsibility. A vital part of our mission is to provide as much support to our community as possible, but we know we cannot do it alone. We are constantly seeking partnerships with generous individuals and organizations to create “Catholic Philanthropy” that impacts the entire community.
Your program which provides children free lunches in the St. Ann’s community is a small, but important example of the generosity of our donors. In fact, part of the funding for this program has come from a donor advised fund at the Foundation. When the grant request was presented to the Foundation we in turn told our donor about it. We knew they would have an interest in helping less fortunate children. The donor agreed it was a worthwhile program and approved the grant request. This is the kind of partnership The Catholic Foundation is happy to support.
Kathie, thanks for giving The Catholic Foundation the opportunity to participate in the “Kids Eat Free” partnership. I hope you are having a great summer.
Very truly yours,
Edwin M. Schaffler
President and Chief Executive Officer
