Texas Catholic Letters

Mr. and Mrs. Justin Holloway
Dallas, Texas

Dear Susan and Justin,

It was great to see you last weekend after Mass. I enjoyed the opportunity to talk about the Foundation with you and appreciate your interest in both The Catholic Foundation and the needs of our community which we are seeing.

It is no secret that the economy has affected almost everyone and that the many organizations that seek funding from us are no exception. Our recent grant awards benefited every aspect of our community. Parishes, schools and many ministries were the recipients of over $600,000 in grants. However, as you often hear me say, there was still not enough funding available for everyone which is always a disappointment to the Distribution Committee.

It is critical to increase the funding available for grants from The Catholic Foundation, especially through the unrestricted endowment. We need to encourage donors to add to their donor advised funds and endowments as well. We see ourselves in partnership with both our donors and those in need so we always encourage individuals such as you to create charitable funds at the Foundation. That way you will have the opportunity to support all aspects of our community in the same way as the Foundation does. We hear of the needs throughout the Diocese which enables us to better assist our donors.

Have a great summer and thank you for your interest in our work. The Catholic Foundation has the experience to help you with your charitable planning and we look forward to doing so.

Very truly yours,

Edwin M. Schaffler
President and Chief Executive Officer
