The Catholic Foundation's 50th Year Anniversary gift to the people of Dallas is an open-air plaza in the new Dallas Arts District across from the Meyerson Symphony Center, and adjacent to the Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe. Each fall a new piece of art is installed in this unique urban oasis following a rigorous competition among local artists. The 2006-07 winner was Marty Ray’s “Celebrate Life, Celebrate Art”, the 2007-08 winner is Ann Cushing Gantz's “Trumpeting Angel” and Pamela Nelson’s “Magic Carpet,” the winner in our 3rd year, graced the wall of The Catholic Foundation Plaza for 2008-09. Our latest winner, “Music on Parade” by David Zvanut, will be on display until October, 2010.
The fifth annual Catholic Foundation Plaza Artists Competition is now underway!
Professional artists in North Texas are invited to submit one original work of art. Entries must be scaled to fit the art wall in the Plaza, which is 28 feet long by 9'8" tall. The price for the winning entrant is $2,500 and their artwork will be on display for public viewing in the Plaza for one year.
The deadline for entries is 3:00 PM on Thursday, September 2, 2010. Download a Request for Proposal.
